Postcard Cabin

We spent the weekend at the Getaway House- Big Bear. This was the perfect spot for our little family (2 adults, 1 child, and 2 dogs). The property and cabin were both very child and dog friendly. The property had plenty of room for our dogs to run off leash (dogs have good recall) and hills to sled down. We booked a single queen bed cabin but there are double queen bed cabins available.

Traveling with a toddler and 2 dogs

This was our first road-trip with 2 dogs and a toddler. Here is what we did to make the trip run smoothly.

There is a Stater Brothers 10 minutes from the campsite. Before checking in, we headed to the Stater Brothers in Lake Arrowhead Village and stocked up on our food for the weekend.

  • The campground has a “general store” but it is just a vending machine. *It was out of service when we went.

Our daughter is pretty good at adapting to her environment. This makes travel typically easy. We brought a snow board and bought lots of fruit to keep her satisfied. Less is more. The cabin isn’t big by any means. Pack light and utilize the outdoors. Whenever we are given the chance, we like to spend our time outside, so this was perfect for us.
