Let's Have a Tea Party
Host a Tea Party with Me
Who doesn’t love a good tea party? Growing up in Southern California, tea parties aren’t exactly the talk of the town, but they should be! This is such a great event without a ton of preparation! I hosted a tea party for the Mother’s Day that just passed. It was such a great way to celebrate the women in my life in a fun, girly way!
Teas and Tea Sets
I purchased Sloane Loose Leaf Tea from a local retailer. To keep things simple I had two different flavors. I did Classic Earl Gray and Heavenly Cream. Both were delicious and everyone enjoyed!
As for tea sets, I would check your local Goodwill or Salvation Army. They have a great variety and very affordable. However, I was a bit on a time crunch with Mother’s Day approaching that I didn’t have as much time to browse multiple stores. I ended up ordering a set on amazon and it was perfect. The set included 13 pieces, was affordable and was a great for the occasion.
Decorations
This is where you can get crazy! Find those DIY projects that you have been dying to try and have fun! I didn’t do too much when it came to decorations. I used a lot of pieces that I already had from previous parties and kept it very simple. However, I did make two wine bottle bouquets. These were super cute and a great touch to the table. I really like how these doubled as a gift. I gifted one to my aunt and the other one to my boyfriend’s mother.
My color scheme was pretty in pink. Everything was pink. I picked up tulle from the fabric store and acted as a runner. This really brought the table together. I will include a few pictures of what I chose to include on my tables.
Food
Food can be tricky. I really like afternoon tea food, but I needed something that was going to fill people up and something everyone would enjoy. I offered a variety of pre-made sandwiches, lasagna, Fettuccine Alfredo, a few different salads, and mac and cheese. Everyone loved the food and got full, which was exactly what I was going for.
This is an event that you can go all out for or keep super casual. Tea Time is super versatile and fun! I hope I encouraged you to throw your own tea time!
Dessert
I kept dessert very simple. I ordered custom mother’s day cookies from a local small business, picked up a variety of macaroons, and served cake. My boyfriend’s mother brought 2 different desserts to share from Porto’s Bakery which were to die for!
